No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Princess was in tumbling on Tuesday night.
Wednesday night champ I took champ to running club. Thursday I raced Champ to his orthodontist appointment after school.
On Friday, I spent some time enjoying neighbors’ company. I came home and cleaned the house.
Saturday morning I was at my school by 8:15. I spent 2 hours there. Then I picked up more contacts at the eye doctor’s office. Next, I ran and walked with Vanessa. I purchased 19 tupperware tubs at Dollar General for demonstrations this week at school. I got gas for the car and lawnmower. I mowed the lawn. I took the recycling to the the church where I recycle. I got some shopping done at Meijer, including smaller containers that I needed for school demonstrations. I ran over to school to fill about 25 small containers with water and put them in the freezer so that we could model glaciers today. I went to the library to return a book and pick up a couple books that Champ had on hold. Then I watched Champ’s flag football game. He took someone’s flag, made a catch, and encouraged others. I went to a movie and dinner with neighbors.
Yesterday I helped in Champ’s Sunday School class. I stepped up to lead a small group when I learned that a small group leader was absent. I ran to Aldi to grab groceries. I was home in time to catch the sermon online. I have done cooking and freezing. Part of my cooking has been for a staff pitch in and part has been to offer relief to a friend recovering from a surgery. I have done laundry. I have graded some papers. I have paid bills, updated my checkbook, and updated my budget app. I have registered Champ for basketball. I read the next chapter in my teaching writing book. I also had a friend come over and diagnose me with possible poison ivy.
Today I went to my doctor who confirmed my poison ivy. Champ had a fifth grade choral festival after school. Princess and I watched his concert at the middle school.
Favorite recent Princess moment: last night I showed her that I had bought 3 boxes that each had 12 snacks in them. She didn't think I bought enough to feed the 26 kids in her class. I asked her how many snacks there were. She said she would need to take off her shoes to figure it out. So, she proceeds to take off her shoes and work with her toes. She eventually calculated that I had bought 32 snacks. 😂

A Broken Spleen
Sunday I helped in Champs Sunday school class. We did a lot of cleaning up around the house. We took a family bike ride. Jonah came over to play with Champ. Princess used markers to give herself tattoos. I love Mom tattooed across her forehead. Princess helped me make an apple crisp to give to Jonahs dad for fixing a blind in our house.
Today the repairman came to fix the broken spring in my garage door. Princess, however, had been telling people that the garage had a broken spleen. I find that so funny that spleen is a part of her schema. She pulled up her lawn chair to watch him do his repair. Champ was upset about missing practices while we waited on the repairman. Champ turned the corner when he started playing with the neighbors.

Our Weekend
Last night we went out to eat at Wendy’s and then to our high school’s football game. The kids got Dippin’ Dots before I encouraged Champ to go find friends. He hung out with Logan. I love that he got super sweaty during the game. Princess and I were busy watching cheerleaders, dancers, fireworks, band members, etc.
Today I woke up and got an early start on exercising. Once we had breakfast and got cleaned up, we headed to the children’s museum. I was eager to get Princess into the Doc McStuffins exhibit.
It is safe to say that Champ did not enjoy the exhibit. We also went to Playscape because our days there are numbered. Princess will soon be too old to be in there. We also went into the remodeled Science Works and even took in a STEM class. We concluded with Take Me to China.
Today the museum was celebrating National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Chick Fil A cows were there. The reps for the restaurant gave me 2 coupons for free kids meals. The next time we went by another rep, the gal asked if I already got the coupons. I had integrity, and I said yes. The third time we went by another rep asked how many kids I had. I said two, and she gave me 2 more coupons for free kids meals.
After the museum, we headed to Champ’s flag football game. It poured at the start before giving way to a game of beautiful sunshine. Champ’s team won. The venue was giving away their hot dogs because it was the end of the day, and they didn’t want to throw them away. So, both kids got free hot dogs.
We headed to the library next. Princess said, “We haven’t been to the library in so long!” She helped me pick out some beginning reader books. (I love helping her learn to read!) Champ is into Geronimo Stilton books.
Then we went to Bed Bath and Beyond in order to purchase an air purifier. The kids have been fighting over the one Princess has. It was an expensive way to stop a fight, but it is money well spent on quality air.
We went to Chick Fil A for dinner and used our free kids meal coupons. Next we went to Aldi’s to pick up groceries. Upon arriving home, I noticed that my garage door wouldn’t raise. The neighbors across the street came over and determined that it was a broken spring causing the door not to open. Boo! I made an appointment for a repairman to come Monday afternoon.
I mowed the lawn. I lost count of the number of times that the lawnmower stopped. Thankfully, it kept restarting.
I loved snuggling the kids and looking at books before bed.

Lazy Sunday?
Today I volunteered in Princess’s Sunday school room. I loved getting extra snuggling time with her. I listened to last week’s sermon online. I ran for 30 minutes with Vanessa, and we walked for about 15 minutes.
I made chicken in the crockpot. I used my Kohl’s cash and a coupon to buy some new running shorts. I exchanged earrings at Von Maur. I bought new running shoes at Blue Mile. I went to library to return library books and get new library books. I got groceries at Aldi. I cut veggies at home before sauteing peppers for fajitas and steaming broccoli. I made and froze 16 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I read for 30 minutes in our new book to help us teach writing. (In 30 minutes, I was able to read just 1 of the 3 lessons that I’m supposed to teach this week. That means I have another hour left to read this week.) I did several loads of laundry and folded them.
When the kids came home, we ate dinner. We watched the Colts game while Princess and I were working on putting together her family photo album for school. I ordered more pictures online to add to the family photo album. (I’ll pick those up after school tomorrow.) We played outside with the neighbors. I read Princess some of her new books from the library. I taught her how to read the first Bob book and another early reader book that I selected for her. Now that the kids are in bed I’m working on paying bills, updating my checkbook, and updating my budget.
How is that for enjoying a gorgeous lazy Sunday?

Labor Day Week
We were back at school on Tuesday. Princess was glad to be back in tumbling class on Tuesday evening.
Champ had a kickball game at his after care program on Wednesday. Champ made the choice to skip running club since the evening was so packed. He used that time to work on homework before going to flag football practice. Princess and I made up a version of red light green light to play instead.
Thursday offered us a break from activities.
I took this picture because I knew my coworkers would appreciate Princess all bundled up. They said she looked just like me when I bundle up at recess.
Friday evening I served mashed sweet potatoes for dinner. Princess’s choosey palette hates when I make mashed sweet potatoes. I compromised and said she could eat half of the already reduced portion that I gave her. I even put it in a tiny bowl for her so she could add butter to it and heat it up in the microwave. I soon grew tired of sitting at the table, so I started cleaning the dishes and then moved on to the living room. Later I noticed there was a pile of mashed sweet potato in the sink. Princess repeated over and over that she didn’t put her sweet potatoes in the sink. Champ said he saw her do it. I asked her to give me a coin as a consequence. We explained what a coin was. She is learning about money at school, so she gave me just a penny. Stink. Later, I told her that there would be no further consequence, so I wanted her to be honest with me about whether she dumped the sweet potato in the sink. Her reply, “No, I dumped it in the trash.” Love her!
Friday evening I also exercised and graded papers when I was without kids. Today I had the pleasure of taking an hour walk with my mom before grading more papers. Then I spent 6 hours at school. I came home briefly for dinner. Then I picked up the pictures I ordered online for Princess’s family photo album that is due this week, dropped off recycling, got cash from an ATM bank machine, exchanged something at the Hallmark store, bought a few items at Meijer, mowed the grass, baked and froze two trays of turkey meatloaf, browned turkey sausage, did a few loads of laundry, cleaned the house, etc.
