Summer is Almost Here!

One more day of school!

Yesterday was Memorial Day.  Champ woke me up to ask me if I was okay.  When I said yes, he asked if he could use the iPad.  I'm not sure he really had my best interest at heart.  He did try to make up for it by making a patriotic breakfast.  Plus, he wanted to make sure we all told Papaw thanks for his service.  The kids had a dance party.  We went to a park and soaked up the sunshine.

Today our gang took a bike ride around the neighborhood before tumbling class.  Then we stopped at the gym before playing baseball at home.  I let Champ do a small loop of the neighborhood by himself on his bike for the first time.

Look at that determination.

Getting ready to hit a home run!

Watching my ball go over the fence!  Then I had the kids remind me that I never even hit the ball because no one pitched to me. :(

Field Day

I forgot to post pictures of tumbling class. This was princess's first time to try a back walk over. There is a competition at the end of every tumbling class. The competition involves standing on your hands and walking your feet up the wall. Princess has always been super competitive in the competition. This time she got out first, and then she was able to put stamps on everyone's hand. I thought she probably got out on purpose. When I asked her if she got out on purpose, she said she had.

I was recently given the best comedian award by the principal.  I told my students, and later one of my students thought I was the best Canadian.

I took the morning off from working with kids in order to work at champs field day with other kids.  My favorite moment was when Champ's teacher told me that he sticks up for a boy when he gets picked on.  She said Champ is a real advocate for the child.

Discovering Nature

I forced the kids to enjoy some more outside time when we got home.  Princess found some empty bird eggs in the grass.  We tried to figure out what may have happened.  I'm looking forward to more lazy discovery days over summer.

Wacky Wednesday

As student of the month in his before and after care, Champ got to shove a pie in the face of a staff member.  I love Champ's smile in all pictures.

When Champ is at baseball again and Princess is crying because she needs a drink, mom has to pull some tricks out.  We counted the trees, timed how fast she could roll down hills, looked for letters we knew on the building, pretended to fly to different states on the US map, played hopscotch, invented a guessing game on the hopscotch board, etc.  In the game, one person turned their back to the hopscotch board while the other person stood on a number.  The person on the number had to provide clues to the guesser...it rhymes with door, it has a straight line and a bent line, etc.  thankfully mom always has tricks up her sleeve....advantage of having a teacher for a mom.

Being a Mom Means...

we started the day with church yesterday so the kids see faith is important.

Then we used a kohls coupon to help stretch the money God gave us.

Next we caught the matinee performance of Angry Birds to again stretch the money God gave us.

We ate a late lunch at Panera.  I was able to pay for about half of it with a gift card....use it before you loose it.

When we returned home and the weather was gorgeous, I made them play outside.  They eventually had exciting water wars with neighbors.  We don't sit inside when weather is gorgeous.

We cleaned the house for money.  I teach them hard work and the fact that you must work in order to get money.

When I'm the mother of the pitcher, I pray the whole time he pitches.  I pray when he is up to bat too.

I cuddle with the kid who isn't playing.  I braid her hair.  We work on math.  What number is up to bat?  Oh, who is #7?  We just scored a run, so what is the score now?  If we score another run, what do you think the score will be?  We work on literacy.  What letter does Red Sox begin with?  What letter do you think Owen starts with?

Champ's game

We went to dinner at a pizza place with the Smith family.  Then we went to the high school to see a Charlie Brown musical.  The kids loved it.  Champ had big laughs.  I loved watching their faces.
