Super Savings Saturday

My morning deals included sheets for 60% off.  Then I found a present for Princess for a fantastic price.  I can't wait to give it to her on her birthday.

Today was museum day.  We spent a couple hours at Conner Prairie for free.  That amount of time was fine for Princess, but it was too short for Champ.  Princess said she loved petting the cow.  Champ said he liked the house where he got to play with kitchen toys.  I splurged and bought the kids chocolate covered marshmallows and let them split a slushie.

We went to the Wenrick house for pizza and play.  The kids love playing with their sons.  Both kids love to hold the baby.  Unfortunately, Champ cut his toe on rocks outside.

Catching Up on September

We are loving our new neighbors.  The kids are constantly going back and forth between yards, garages, and houses.  They seem so nice.  We are looking forward to more happy times together.

Champ's baseball season ends Sunday.  He is crushed, but I am thrilled.  We have been busy with practices on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Sundays have been busy with double hitters.

On the 14th, Champ went to a U of Indy game with my parents and his cousin Connor.  He loved the evening.  My parents took Princess for an afternoon of fun the next day.

The IUPUI Regatta is a new favorite event for us.  There were heats competing on the canal forever.  Our favortite spot to watch the races was near the spot where the competitors had to get out of the canoe and be replaced by new competitors.  Because this was a circular landing, plenty of canoes tipped and competitors tipped in.  Another exciting moment was when the same team spilled twice.  We spent time at the family area, which was located near our perfect viewing spot.  Princess was thrilled to be in a bounce house while Champ conquered a rock climbing wall.  There were other carnival type games that the kids played.  Each game handed out either a prize or candy.  Although I packed snacked, we splurged and got sandwiches from a food truck.

Tonight was game night at church for Champ.  He had a wonderful time.  The best moment for him though was when he won a door prize.  He was absolutely thrilled.

New Neighbors

We are having a great time getting to know our new neighbors.  They have two boys, a kindergarten child and a 2 year old.  Our families seem to have hit it off.  The kids are going back and forth between yards and houses.  This morning Princess was talking about the other house.  I finally caught on to the fact that she was referring to our neighbor's house as if it was an extension of our house.

So Sweet

I loved when I passed my sweet girl's bedroom earlier this evening.  She was busy making up stories about all the new books her brother had passed on to her.  She had the book held up and turned away from her, just like a teacher might do.  Perhaps we have another teacher on our hands.

High Honors

Champ was named Student of the Month for August.  Since he was given a Texas Roadhouse coupon, we went there last night for dinner.  We also cashed in on 2 coupons for a local ice cream shop for dessert.  We had wonderful treats to celebrate such a special boy.

Today Champ had a double hitter.  Thankfully not all his teammates showed up.  (There are too many people on his team most days.)  He played the entire time in both games.  He played catcher, 3rd base, and pitcher.  This was his first time as pitcher.  After a few batters, I reminded him that he needs to release the ball when his hand is pointed towards his target.  He still made balls after that, but at least they were closer.  He struck out one kid.

At the end of the game, his coach asked him what he had for breakfast.  Coach said he wanted some of it because Champ was everywhere.  I love that Champ said he had toast.  Later Champ asked me if he could have toast every game day.

Coach let the kids nominate teammates they thought did awesome.  Coach threw out Champ's name himself.

Indy Honor Flight

Last night we joined many other family members and strangers in the welcoming home of WWII veterans, including Uncle Bud, from the Indy Honor Flight at the Indianapolis International Airport.  A flight is provided for veterans and their guardians to travel to Washington DC and see monuments erected in their honor.  It was very touching to see these elderly men get such a warm reception.  Thanks to all our veterans!

I have two favorite comments from the evening.  When I asked Princess if she liked the airport, she said,  "This isn't the airport."  Her tone of voice led me to believe she truly thought I was crazy.  On our ride home from he airport, Champ asked me if Uncle Bud just fought in the war.  I told him that his 94 year old great, great uncle had fought in a war awhile ago.

Poop

In the past week, Princess has started pooping in the potty.  Her incentive 2 pieces of M and M candies.  It doesn't take much.

September Starts

Tuesday Princess threw up on the bathroom carpet.  Tuesday evening was Zumba with the girls.  The instructor told me before class that I looked a lot stronger.  I told her that was good since I had a big surgery at the end of August.

On Wednesday evening, we hung out with the neighborhood crew.

Thursday we loved getting to know our new neighbors.  I am hopeful that there will be a lot of happy play dates in the future.

Today I woke up at 4:00 to Champ throwing up...thankfully in the toilet.  He stayed in bed with me, but he got sick many times.  He stayed home with Daddy, but seemed to bounce out of the slump he was in.

Tonight the neighbors across the street came over with the most thoughtful gifts.  They were tired of watching Princess get so sad that she couldn't keep up with the big kids on their bikes while she was on the tricycle.  So, when our neighbors stumbled upon a Barbie bike with training wheels at a thrift store, they bought it and fixed it up just a little.   She was just thrilled with the present.  Tammy and I were teaching her how to pedal while Bill tried to make Champ feel special by playing catch with a football that they got him.  After awhile, Princess mastered riding her bike on the driveway.  We headed for the longer sidewalk path.  She was just so happy with it.  She rode it around the block and had to be pulled off it.  I added to the bike a pink basket and noisemaker that a co worker gave me once.  Then Princess needed to ride the bike again in case it had a completely different feel with a basket and noisemaker.  It is so exciting to think that the bike is in the garage, and we can use it tomorrow too.   I hope we can tolerate the excitement and still sleep.

A Great Day with a Bad Ending

Our day began with me serving in Champ's Sunday School room.  I had a fun time acting out different charades for the children to guess.  Champ also forced me to be on stage when the pastor asked for the worship leaders to be people with birthdays in September or October.  Going on stage in front of a large group of students and adults isn't really my thing.  I do it so that Champ can see me overcoming fear.

We made what should have been a brief visit at home to pick up watermelon to take to the family gathering at the lake.  However, our new neighbors had just moved in and stopped by to meet us.  While talking with neighbors, I noticed Princess had pooped in her underwear.

It was a lengthy drive to Raccoon Lake, but we had a wonderful time there with family.  There was a delicious feast for lunch and dinner.  In between the two meals, there were boat rides, wave runner rides, swims in the lake and baby pool, etc.  Cousin Brad is the coolest.  He let Champ drive the pontoon boat.  He took him out on several rides on the wave runner.  Brad even took me for a spin on the wave runner.  We were starting to pull the wave runner back to the dock, when he turns to me and asked if I wanted to drive.  Turns out, I did.  Riding and driving were awesome.  We got up to high speeds and even got a little airborne.  Princess fell asleep in the pontoon boat while snuggled against Rhonda.  She seems to like the Thompson family a lot.  We also managed to squeeze in time to celebrate Uncle Bud's birthday.  It was a fabulous day with family.

Just before dinner Champ started complaining about a headache and wanting to throw up.  Champ made it almost all the way home before throwing up everywhere in the car.  As I'm in the midst of cleaning up vomit, Princess pooped in her underwear.  I decided that if you find yourself googling for information about how to get vomit out of your car, you are probably not having a good time in life.
