No, we didn't get a dog, but we are seeing the loyalty of our little princess. Last night we took a short shopping adventure to the outlet malls. Champ closed his eyes in the car. Princess kept shouting his name followed by "wake up.". She said that over and over again.
We split the kids at the outlet mall. I got princess since we parked by my store, a shoe store. She wasn't really into me trying on shoes. She had some melt downs when I didn't keep on the shoes she wanted me to have on.
I go go go on little sleep until I hit a wall. Last night I hit a wall. I fell asleep on the couch shortly after 8. Princess stayed next to me on the couch until daddy put her to sleep.
It was good to take a short walk with my mom today at the CLC. I then started training for the mini marathon by jogging 3 miles.
Daddy made pancakes.
We took advantage of free admission (with a canned good) at the NCAA Hall of Champions. the organization had delicious hot chocolate out to enjoy. Both kids loved it. There were plenty of videos to enjoy about various sports. Kids got to experience a fast tennis serve67-72 miles per hour. Both kids had their vertical leap measured. Princess was thankful that daddy helped her. Kids played virtual football and soccer. A highlight was a Tony Dungy book being read to us by Ronald NORAD, former Butler player...part of the teams that played for both title games. He also answered questions. Daddy and champ talked to him personally in the hall. Daddy said that Ronald told champ twice that he had good questions...his nice comments were not surprising since he is a teacher. I thought it was encouraging that he told the kids that he started playing in second grade and he was terrible.
Champ went to see the Harlem Globetrotters with my dad. Champ, of course, loved it.
This site is designed to document the beautiful lives of two precious children. Champ is my 8 year-old son, and Princess is my 3 year-old daughter.

Big girl bed
Yesterday was a busy day. Champ was the player who got to compete in the tip off at the beginning of his game. He flicked it back to his teammate. It was the perfect play. The rest of the game was a little hard to watch, but champ is trying hard.
We went to the children's museum. Princess and I rode the carousel 6 times. She rotated rides between horses, goat, and lion. Hot wheels is also popular with both kids. Princess fell asleep in the car on the way home. I asked daddy to put her in her big girl bed. She stayed asleep fo a long nap. When she awoke, we talked about how great it was to sleep in a big girl bed.
We hosted my parents for a spaghetti dinner. Both kids were wild with excitement. At bedtime, we put her in her big girl bed with the door open. She laid there talking to herself and banging the headboard for a long time. She finally fell asleep in the big girl bed. She didn't cry at all during the night and stayed there till she awoke this morning. Mission accomplished!
Champ went to swim team and basketball practice this week. He is a little intimidated by the bigger kids on the team.
Champ was feeling ill again on Wednesday morning. He got sick at Bible club. I ended up staying home with him, and I took him to the pediatrician in the afternoon. She said she wanted to treat him for GERDS.
We are excited that today is a lazy day at home.

Ball boy
Today champ got to be a ball boy for the UIndy boys basketball game. He was super excited about it. He got to go in the locker room with the players, sit on a chair by the bench, retrieve balls during warmups, etc. coaches from both teams shook his hand. Princess wasn't as big of a fan of the game.
Champ lost his basketball game earlier in the day. Champ hustles and goes after the ball. I can tell he is anxious when he has the ball in his hands. He took plenty of shots, but he missed them all. Princess was giving the play by play....Zach got a boo boo....Cameron fall down....etc.
Last night we dined at Applebee's, which was a much better experience than tonight's steak n shake experience.
We also had swim team start up again this week. Champ was disappointed that he didn't get to move up to the next swim team, but we know he will continue to keep at it.
Basketball practice resumed again this week.
Princess was sent home from school on wednesday with a fever. Daddy stayed home with her on Thursday. She had a doctors appointment anyways scheduled for Thursday. She didn't have an ear infection anymore, but doctor could give no reason why she had had a fever.
Princess continues to love to tell us the time. She now goes to the kitchen, and she always returns to say 8:48. She loves to watch Dora. When we are folding laundry, princess puts champs hulk underwear on over her diaper. Princess has fallen in love with champs old cow blanket. Princess loves to dump out all her toys in the playroom, but she is starting to pick them up when asked.
Princess loves to walk around in a circle while singing the abc song at the start of bible time. She can now pray by herself. She folds her hands and starts naming the people she is thankful for. Although minnie, Mickey, bear, and dinosaurs are enjoying sleeping in the big girl bed, princess does not want to sleep in the big girl bed.

Twenty four eight
When we don't know the time, we ask champ to go look at what time it is. He usually goes to the kitchen to look at the microwave or stove. Princess wants to do everything her brother does. Now she has started going to the kitchen and coming back with a number. When I asked daddy tonight for the time, she hopped off my lap, ran to the kitchen, turns around, and announces, "24 8."

The end of 2012
We have been busy scooping up end of year deals. One thing I have been working on is a photo book for each kid in the online program called Snapfish. I have compiled pictures of each kid, added captions, and included a letter to each child from me. Plus, I snatched up the 50% off deals.
Yesterday we counted down to noon at the children's museum. It was super crowded in the atrium as the DJ led the countdown. Confetti fell from the ceiling. The kids blew their noisemakers, which were passed out at the door in addition to glow sticks. Princess rode the carousel 6 times. She also was focused at the sand table for 30 minutes. She always adores the Hot Wheels exhibit. Champ loves the Hot Wheels exhibit too. He is interesting to watch because he likes to trace cars at their art station. He also went to the dinosaur exhibit, but he was only interested in tracing a dragon. He and Daddy saw a short Transformer skit in the theater. Champ and I went to see a funny musical called The Magic Snowman in the theater. The director said the musical was written by a guy who based it on Stone Soup. So, we stopped at the library in the museum together to look at a version of Stone Soup. I also pointed out to the Champ that there are multiple versions of Stone Soup.
My parents were kind enough to take both kids for a sleepover. The kids had a fabulous time. It was the first time Princess had ever slept somewhere without her parents. Daddy and I ate a delicious meal at The Cheesecake factory. We feasted on avocado egg rolls, cobb salad (me), steak and salmon (Daddy), and chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Next, we partook in a rare event for us...a trip to the movie theater. We laughed a lot as we watched Parental Guidance. Very funny!
This morning it was so good to sleep in! I woke up at 8:20, and Daddy woke up after 9. If we the kids had been around, we would have definitely had to have had one of us up by 7 with the Princess. Happy New Year to us!
