New Year's Eve

We started the day with exercise at the CLC. I make The Champ do a mile with me. Today we walked 2 laps, and we would run 1/2 and then walk 1/2 for the remaining 5 laps that equal a mile. The Champ played basketball with Daddy afterwards, while Pretty Princess and I climbed steps together. Pretty Princess climbs steps fairly easily now, but she isn't really sure how to get down them safely yet.

This afternoon we made some New Year's Eve decorations to put around the house before having the neighborhood girls and their mom come over for a little bit.

We had our dear friends come over for a New Year's Eve party. The dinner included pigs in a blanket, fruit salad, and cheesy hashbrowns. The kids played and watched some TV. Dessert ( a cake) was served. Then we made 2 different noisemakers. One noisemaker was a water bottle with beans in it. The other noisemaker included 2 paper plates with beans between. The kids assembled the noisemakers and decorated. Then we made party hats. We watched the ball drop on You Tube, well...we watched last year's ball drop on You Tube. Next, we had our own ball drop in the family room followed by a sparkling grape toast. Big fun!

Mini Road Trip

Today we went to the Muncie Children's Museum. It was mainly a large room with lots of different play areas within. Without a doubt, The Champ's favorite area was the grocery store. It was a Marsh Market. We played in there for hours. We traded turns....customer, cashier, customer, cashier, and on and on. Once the Pretty Princess awoke from her nap, she enjoyed the tot spot. She could climb up some steps by herself, and then we would help her down the slide. Other fun activities included delivering mail from the post office, fishing, climbing in an ant hill, and playing with balls. We went to McDonald's before the museum and Greek's Pizzeria after the museum. Both kids feel asleep on the way home. However, Pretty Princess did a lot of screaming and crying in the car too.

Winter Break

Our Pretty Princess woke up screaming at least twice during the night. The Champ is the only one who manages to sleep through it. Daddy is good at trying to calm the baby down in the middle of the night.

We went to the CLC around 10. I make The Champ walk a mile with me. I tell him that it helps to get the wiggles out. After our walk, he and Daddy play basketball. Pretty Princess and I try help by playing a little 2 on 2. However, she sits down and cries if she doesn't get the ball.

This afternoon Daddy was out getting some things done while The Champ played Legos, painted, tossed the ball, etc. Nothing too exciting today...just blessed to have extra time to spend with my family.

New Years Resolution

I think I'd like to document more what we do so that I can have that to give to my children. It has been a busy winter break. In my week off school, my in laws have visited. I have taken the kids to the state museum (by myself) and the children's museum (with hubby). We have been exercising at the CLC. We have shopped more than I care to shop. The kids had a great Christmas. We opened presents at our house. The Champ was so fun this Christmas. He has been able to share exactly what he wanted for Christmas, and he was thrilled with what he got. We finished the day with a gathering at my parents' house. My dad's side of the family celebrated Christmas yesterday. It was good to catch up, but we missed the company of my hubby and Pretty Princess due to the princess being ill. Well, we'll see how long I can keep this up....to be continued....

Hypothesis

I recently was combing the house for part of our activity center for our Pretty Princess. I couldn't find the silly star that lights up and makes noises. Anyways, The Champ says to us, "I have a hypothesis." I inquired what it was. He said he thought the star was playing hide and seek with us. I was impressed that he could correctly pronounce the word hypothesis and use it correctly in a sentence. I think he gets that from Dinosaur Train. Thanks, PBS!

We Eat Dinner in the Bathtub

One book I used to read with my first grade students was We Eat Dinner in the Bathtub. Now I like to read it with The Champ. We read the book several times this weekend. (The Champ had slowed down due to a fever.) His teacher mother made a connection to the story when I allowed him to eat his dinner in the bathtub. He loved it. Very fun.

First Food

On Friday, I tried giving our Pretty Princess rice cereal (mixed with breastmilk) for the first time. (It was a little hard to try to video tape and feed her at the same time...thus she isn't in the center.) We have now given her rice cereal three times. She seems to like it. We'll try another food soon.

Blocks

Our pretty princess is trying to knock the blocks down with her feet. I also notice that she is getting just a little closer to turning over.

Getting Dressed

I love that The Champ opted not to wear the dress shirt under his sweater vest for picture day at school. We eventually got a nice outfit on.

Noises

The baby loves to play with her voice these days. If you turn up the volume on your computer, you can probably hear The Champ in the background. He created a party for the family last night. He had station work for us: reading, duck, sunglasses, and coloring. He gave us instructions to have only one person at a station at a time. Plus, we weren't to leave a station until he said that time was up. Boy is he related to a lot of educators...

Bells

You can see in this video how hard The Champ is concentrating. The kids each got a colored bell. The director would hold up color cards. When the color card shown matched the bell color you were holding, you were to ring your bell.

Give Me a Tender Heart

We enrolled The Champ in a choir at church. We thought he would love it since he loves all the people on stage. He was very reluctant to be there. We began working almost daily on learning our songs for "music class." He really came out of his shell once he felt confident that he knew the songs. You can see here how well The Champ sings.

The Champ sleeps

The Champ claimed he felt ill. I knew that he had simply chosen not to eat the nutritious dinner that I had prepared the night before, and this was causing his tummy to hurt. He fell asleep by the toilet. He felt much better after breakfast.

Close Up

More of the same

The Champ is trying to make the baby smile again.

Trying to get a smile

The Champ tries to get the baby to smile. I like how The Champ says, "I forget where I was starting at." As if there was a method to his madness. I like how the baby watches him, but I wonder what she thinks about him.

Holding

The Champ enjoys holding his sister.

I love you!

For the time being, The Champ loves his new sister.
